What steps are required to begin obtaining
background checks from Information Resources?

requires. We can answer your questions about pricing, and provide forms
and/or information on how to proceed.
What is the turnaround time?
Typically, turnaround time is one to three business days.
Is there a start-up fee?
No. There are no upfront costs involved to become a client. Information
Resources will setup an account for your company which includes providing
access to a state-of-the-art online web-based system that will support you
in submitting requests, viewing invoices, and retrieving reports online.
What are my options for transmitting a request
and obtaining reports?
Most of our clients prefer to use the VERIFY online system because of its
ease-of-use. However, you may fax or email requests if you prefer, and you
may receive them in any of these three ways.
Can we request services for tenants,
caregivers, or for purposes other than employment?
Information Resources provides consumer reports under all state and federal
regulations, and our primary business has been employment screening. Now,
however, we are also offering DATA EXPRESS
which is available for a broad range of uses.

Does Information Resources have a total
quality management program?
Yes. The Total Quality Program provides a framework for Information
Resources, so that the work performed is consistent in quality, and tried
and true methodologies are employed in all we do for you.
How long has Information Resources been
providing screening services?
In 1988, when Information Resources began providing these services, there
were not many companies in the pre-employment screening industry. In
addition to being a pioneer in this industry, Information Resources began
providing a much quicker turnaround time than other companies were offering
at that time. We understood that although a five-day turnaround time was the
norm, it was not acceptable to companies, which had to make hiring decision
quickly so as not to lose good candidates to competitors. Reducing
turnaround time to two-to-three business days made Information Resources an
early leader in the industry.
Does Information Resources provide services
nationwide?
Searches may be performed on any applicant who has lived or worked in the
U.S.
Do you offer international checks?
For our clients that require international searches, we recommend and
coordinate with a business partner that does offer international checks.
Is it legal to request your services for
employment purposes?
Yes. The applicant's signature is required on a release form that is
obtained by contacting us at 800-548-0822.
Do you fingerprint applicants for the purpose
of obtaining criminal records?
No. Criminal checks are conducted county-by-county where the applicant lived
or worked, going back seven years.
Does your company need the authorization from
my applicants to check their background?
Yes. To obtain a copy of this release form, contact Information Resources at

Is it always necessary that applicants sign a
release form, authorizing a background screening?
Whenever a consumer reporting agency provides a screening on behalf of a
client, the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that a release form be signed
by the applicant. There is an exception. In the case where a company
suspects wrongdoing on the part of an existing employee, it may request a
check on that individual without obtaining a signed release form. To obtain
